Love is in the Air
Yeah. Its 14 Feb. 4 more months and I'll hit the big 2. But thats beside the point. Its Valentine's Day.
Ade just reminded me of how fun Valentine's Day was back in SA.
During first 3 months in J1, the entire cafe was so re nao with mostly newly-found-J1-friends. People were teasing one another about their new crushes. Yf had V, the rosy cheek councillor, Steph had A, her primary school friend who so coincidentally became her classmate again (the only pair who did get together) and I had E, an OG mate who turned out to be someone's primary school good friend. Small worlds. Haha. So funny. And I just met E a few days ago at HJ's 21st party wearing a nice tee. Haha. Those stupid times.
Remember Yf bought me and Steph a balloon each from SC and instead of writing sweet friendship messages, she wrote things like "Can you be my date?" and sign off as "secret admirer". Full of shit. But damn fun. My OG was so close. Most people had small gifts for one another. Little things from Ikea, cookies etc. So nice.
And we sold flowers in the evening. So tiring and so envious of happy couples but very good bonding sessions for 3 of us.
Then in J2, the close group of friends became s82 and the netballers. I remember baking cookies for the whole of s82 and teachers, the netballers, Mr Teh and the teachers and some of my other friends. Thats about more than 40? Spent the entire evening baking it, wrapping one by one using the Ikea nice serviettes. So tiring but seeing everyone (i guess) enjoying your cookie and praising you for it just made everything worthwhile. =D
That year the friendship bond was stronger and it was more meaningful. Maybe later I should go dig up some cards and stuff received. Heh.
Those were the fun fun days where Valentine's Day can really be translated to Friendship Day.
Anyway, I had a nice and sweet advance Valentine's Day already. Today I shall be a good girl and mug.
