P.S I Love You
I hate Valentine’s Day.
And yes, this is coming from someone who is happily and blissfully attached and enjoys romances.
This is my 3rd valentine’s day with him. Very fast hor?
But this day is just way too commercialized for me to handle. To me, its just a chance for florist and restaurants extort your money.
We planned to watch P.S I love you so we bought the tickets for the 9.30pm show at Lot 1 before deciding what to do in the evening. We really only wanted a simple affair. I requested for no flowers, no presents and told him I’d rather use that money in Bangkok instead. He, obviously, happily agreed. We wanted a normal dinner somewhere nearby as well, so suggestions included Jack’s place at BPP, chicken chop and/or tze char from 163 coffee or da baoing to my place since no one was at home. We ended up deciding on Galbiat cos I was thinking of their awesome apple pie.
Rail mall was surprising packed. I could see a lot of couples who also only wanted simple affairs cos majority of girls there weren’t holding on to any bouquets. I thought I was at the right place. So we headed for Galbiat, managed to get a table before realizing that they were having a compulsory valentine’s day set dinner. We thought it wasn’t worth it so we left. Sigh.. my apple pie!
We ended up at this Thai restaurant despite flying in 2 days time. But what disappointed me was their service. They obviously couldn’t cope! My appetizer only came after we totally cleaned up the plates of our main dishes and rice. So it became dessert instead. -_- Sian diao.
So I decided that I wouldn’t dine out on Valentine’s Day anymore.
Come to think of it, this is actually the first time I was at a commercialized place on Valentine’s Day. Well, even Rail Mall was commercialized. Last year we had home made steak at Peg’s kitchen. Haha. The year before (2006) we were at Shore, in the far far east of Singapore, with the sea breeze blowing into our faces and aeroplanes taking off or landing above our heads.
2005… I was attached but army took my then boyfriend away on outfield. [spot the pun in this sentence?]
2004… I really couldn’t remember, other than myself baking cookies for a lot of people. And the S82 guys got all the girls roses. Sweet.
2003… Ah ha! The most happening yet pathetic Valentine ’s Day with Steph and Yenfang selling flowers on the streets.
The sec school days were too far away, and I could only remember one significant Valentine ’s Day which is probably insignificant by now.
Hope all you guys had your share of fun during Valentine’s Day too! I enjoyed P.S I love you though it wasn’t really realistic and abit creepy at times.
Officially my last day at KPMG and the first and last time I am typing a post using this lao ya pok super duper heavy HP laptop.
Gosh, I am flying tmr! You see, luckily I was kanchiong spider. I totally had no time to pack these few days.
Photos another time!
